Indoor Car Wash Pretend Play

February 10, 2014 by Meredith @ Homegrown Friends

I was so excited to get these photographs edited and this post written because we had the best time ever today!  We have over a foot of crusty snow outside and it’s cold so there is a lot of indoor play these days.  Today we turned our house into an Indoor Car Wash Pretend Play with my little ones as the cars! So much fun and super easy to create!

TIME TO CREATE YOUR INDOOR CAR WASH PRETEND PLAY!

Before your little cars can zoom through the car wash you will need to create cars for your children.  We looked through our recycled boxes, and I cut two long rectangles and two short rectangles for each child.  I taped the boxes together to create an open box shape.  If you happen to have a perfect box shape you can also just cut off the top and bottom leaving the sides.  Attach two pieces of elastic to the top part of the box (these will be used as shoulder straps).

My kids then had the fantastic idea of adding headlights to their cars.  We looked around our kitchen and used the recycled jar lids. Perfect!  I taped them to the front of the box.

Next my children used markers to decorate the outside of their boxes.

While my children worked on their cars I set up the car wash throughout our house.  First I taped string about 4 feet off the ground weaving the string back and forth between our walls.  Next I taped streamers from the string so that they hung at different levels.

HAVING FUN WITH THE INDOOR CAR WASH PRETEND PLAY!

My kids had a blast zooming through the streamers again and again and again!

I even got in on the action!

Our car wash turned into a repair shop and gas station too.  We simply taped together some paper, paper towel roll and a plastic pipette for the gas nozzle.

Such a fun afternoon full of silly kids moving their bodies and having fun!
